Equipment Requirements
USA Lacrosse (Not St. Albans Rec) sets equipment standards. If you're new to LAX, you may not know that the boys game and girls game are quite different. Different rules, different equipment requirements - we agree, it's confusing.
Here are current requirements:
Tykes - No equipment necessary for this age! We provide sticks and other equipment for practice purposes. You are more than welcome to come geared up but it's not necessary.
All Girls Grades 1 and up:
Cleats, mouth guard, stick and eye protection
Headgear and close fitting gloves are optional.
All Boys Grades 1 - 2:
Cleats, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, stick & mouth guard.
All Boys Grades 3 and up:
Cleats, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, stick & mouth guard - In addition, all Boys in grades 3 and up must have NOCSAE certified chest protectors. Without NOCSAE certified chest protectors they will not be able to play. Certification will be indicated on the chest protector. If you are purchasing new, ask the sales person. If you're using a hand me down, or buying 2nd hand, check for the certification. Referees will not let kids play without them.
Lacrosse Equipment
We are planning a small Lacrosse Equipment swap/grab on Friday February 28th and Saturday March 1st, ahead of the 2025 season. We will invite families looking for equipment to stop by and browse the available items. More details to come.
We are looking for equipment in good condition that can be donated to the department and then given to those who need it. Equipment can be brought to the recreation offices at Hard'ack.
