
This comprehensive 8-hour course provides the knowledge and skills every boater should have before heading out on the water. Participants will learn essential boating laws, navigation rules, safety equipment requirements, and best practices for operating a boat responsibly.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Boating Safety Certificate recognized by insurance companies and law enforcement agencies. This course is ideal for new boaters, those needing certification, or anyone looking to improve their confidence and safety on the water.

Alan Nye
Been a member of the Auxiliary for 15 years and has been teaching the Boating Safety Course for eight years. Has over sixty years of experience as a boater on Lake Champlain. Has his Coast Guard 100 ton Masters License and currently owns a center console boat in Shelburne and in Stuart, Florida. Has participated on several voyages from Vermont to Florida on the Inter-Coastal. Is qualified as a coxswain in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Robert Bernier
Has been a member of the Auxiliary for 10 years, Has spent over 50 years plying the waters of Lake Champlain. Has been a Boating Safety Course instructor for four years. Is qualified as a coxswain in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
