Our Mission
The mission of the St. Albans Sharks Swim Team is to foster an environment conducive to developing balanced swimmers, with an emphasis on individual improvement through hard work and team work.
Swimmer Categories
Great White Sharks (Ages 11 to 18 years)
The focus is on building endurance, power, and speed through technique refinement, IM swimming, and training, tailored to sprint or distance events. We will incorporate dry-land training and in-water sessions.
Reef Sharks (Ages 10 and under)
The focus is on building endurance and improving technique in order to develop balanced swimmers. We will incorporate dry-land training and in-water sessions are incorporated.
Cat Sharks (Ages 4+)
The focus is on building endurance and stroke development, while creating a fun and inviting atmosphere.
Great White Sharks & Reef Sharks Eligibility
Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards, repeatedly, for the entirety of the specified practice time. Swimmers must be able to legally swim ALL 4 competitive strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle). Swimmers must want to be part of this team.
Cat Shark Eligibility
Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards (1 lap) several times for the entirety of the specified practice without a flotation device. Swimmers must be able to demonstrate safe swimming skills, but they do not need to legally swim all 4 of the competitive strokes. Swimmers must be at least 4 years of age. Keep in mind Cat Sharks is NOT swim lessons. Participants should be able to swim on their own and should consider continuing in the lessons program as well.
Age Guidelines
Age guidelines are in place to safely place swimmers, and to set them up for success. The age restrictions are a guideline and are not written in stone. The coaches decide if and when a swimmer should be moved to a different training group. Swimmer performance, endurance, and attitude are all taken into account to decide where they will do best!

Great Whites (11-18 years)...........7:30am - 9:00am (Monday - Thursday)
Great Whites (11-18 years)...........7:30am - 8:15am (Friday)
Reef Sharks (10 years & under)....8:45am - 10:00am (Monday - Thursday)
Reef Sharks (10 years & under)....8:15am - 9:00am (Friday)
Cat Sharks (4-8 years)...................9:00am - 9:30am (Monday & Wednesdays) *Ends 7/28/25
*No practice on July 4*
Sibling Discount
The 1st and 2nd child are at the regular price, the 3rd child is 50% off and the 4th child is FREE!! All children must be registered at the same time to receive the discount. Applies to immediate family only and all registrations must be done at the same time.
Team Swim Suits & Apparel - New for 2025!
In response to feedback from swimmers, we're switching up the swim suit style to be more comfortable for athletes. (Having a new team suit is not a requirement to participate on the team. Swimmers can continue to wear their current suit, or any black suit for meets.) There are two TYR Women's Styles - the Hexa Trinity Fit & Hexa Diamond Fit styles in Black with red trim. The Men's Jammer is Hexa Curve Splice Jammer, black with red feature. Your swimmer will be invited to come to the pool to try one for size, more information soon about dates. We will send links to the order info in April. Remember - We currently sell goggles, training fins, parkas, snorkels, swim caps and other equipment at Hard'ack Pool.
