American Red Cross Junior Lifesaving Course

The Junior Lifesaving program is available to youth ages 11-15 years old that have the desire to learn about the responsibilities and duties of a lifeguard. This program will help your child build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes, and skills to become a future lifeguard. Your child will receive instruction in prevention, fitness, response, leadership, professionalism, and swimming skill development. 

We also offer optional hours to shadow certified lifeguards working at the Hardack Pool. 


Completion of this course does NOT result in certification and or employment with the Saint Albans Recreation Department.

Junior Lifeguard Notes
  • All participants should bring towel, water and snack.
  • Each session will include time in pool.
  • All materials are provided.
