Join us for a tour around St. Albans hidden gem, Hard'ack. Each hike will have a different theme and date. Hikes will take participants around the main loop of Hard'ack exploring some of the great features Hard'ack has to offer. Wolf Monument, Lookout Point, the Ledge Stairs and more.
A fire will be had for after the hike and s'more will be handed out to roast.

Snowshoes can be provided for winter hikes.

Hikes are weather dependent.

All hikers must be physically able to climb steep inclines and rocky terrain.

Headlamps are not required but are strongly encourages. We do have a limited number we can provide if you do not have one. A phone flashlight works as well.

Hunter's Moon Hard'ack Hike -  October 20th, 2021  - Wednesday-  6:00-7:30 pm
FREE for 2021 Hard'ack Wolf Pack members

This full Moon is often referred to as the Full Hunter’s Moon, Blood Moon, or Sanguine Moon. Many moons ago, Native Americans named this bright Moon for obvious reasons. The leaves are falling from trees, the deer are fattened, and it’s time to begin storing up meat for the long winter ahead.
Because the fields were traditionally reaped in late September or early October, hunters could easily see fox and other animals that come out to glean from the fallen grains. Probably because of the threat of winter looming close, the Hunter’s Moon is generally accorded with special honor, historically serving as an important feast day in both Western Europe and among many Native American tribes.

Moonlight Hard'ack Hike -  November 18th, 2021  - Thursday-  6:00-7:30 pm
Come check out the Hard'ack an a whole different light, or lack there of. This hike is the night before the Full Beaver Moon.

November 19th is the call the Beaver Moon. This was a time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for the winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon.
