Water Safety Classes for Kids and Adults

From weekends at the beach, rides on the family boat, pool parties to just having neighborhood kids over to use the pool, recreational swimming and water activities are tremendously popular and enrich our lives.  Although these activities add great value to our lives, water can potentially be a source of danger.

Our Water Safety program is an out of water class that teaches people to be safe in, on and around the water.  The class can be tailored to the audience so whether you have a group of preschoolers, a middle school classroom, family members,  camp staff, or child care staff the course will be relevant and appropriate for the participants.

There is no official certification as a result of this class.  Classes for preschoolers run approximately 30 minutes and involve fun animated characters in all sorts of water situations.  Kids will receive stickers and tattoos reminding them of water safety rules and a pass good for one free visit to St. Albans City Pool during public swim. 
 
Classes for adults and older kids will use the same rules, but with video when access is available. The organizers of the class will receive binder with safety materials covered in class.  Participants will receive a pass good for one free visit to St. Albans City Pool during public swim.

Water Safety
  • Because the range of topics in this presentation is broad it is helpful to know some general information about the expected audience in advance. Will this be all children, parents and children, homeowners association, summer campers? It helps us to know who will be attending and their reason for offering the course.
  • Classes can be set up so that one organization makes payment for the course or so each person can register individually and pay. Contact our office to determine what works best for you at 524-1500 x *266
  • Classes can also be held on site at the Barlow Street Community Center.
